Welcome to Work Worth Doing
As the U.S. Environmental Production Agency's states, "Sustainability creates and maintains the conditions under which humans and nature can exist in productive harmony, that permits fulfilling the social, economic and other requirements of present and future generations." As a campus, we will improve our environmental sustainability by taking part in efforts that range from better recycling to rooftop gardens, for the health of present and future Sooners.
One in four people will be affected by a mental or neurological disorder at some point in their life. Right now it can take anywhere from weeks to even months to get a therapy appointment in Goddard. The mental wellness of students needs to be addressed much sooner than this. We care about the mental wellness of our fellow students, and therefore we will work for easier access to therapy and other mental health resources on campus.
We want our LGBT students to have a friendly, welcoming experience at OU. This means updating the LGBT Lounge, increasing advertising for LGBT events, and partnering with the Gender Equality Center to provide the best we can for LGBT students!
Tired of dodging people on your bike? Scared you're going to get run over because you're unsure where the bike lane begins and ends? We are too! Better bike lanes is a priority for us, so you can safely get from point A to point B.
SGA has too long been unclear to the student body. We want to make sure we are working with total transparency, by the will and for the will of OU's student body. We will increase SGA communication and engagement on campus, so you will always know what we are working on as an organization.
We know the statistics, and we want those affected by sexual assault to never feel alone in their situation. We want to provide a better dialogue regarding sexual assault, decrease the stigma, and increase resources and assistants for those in need.
We want OU to have not only a positive impact on campus, but also have a positive impact city and state-wide! SGA will encourage advocacy from students, increase engagement within the community, and increase intercollegiate cooperation to tackle state-wide student issues!
